East Coast Discovery Tour 
Daily Itinerary*

We do our best to establish our travel itinerary early, but there can be circumstances beyond our control that occasionally force us to make changes. Here is our updated proposed itinerary for the 2015 East Coast Discovery tour.  Please realize that all of the items listed are not guaranteed as changes may have to be made at the last minute.  ALL MEALS are included EVERY DAY.
 
Shown below are links where you can find background information on some of the sites that you will visit.  We suggest that you click on them and check them out to have an idea of where you will be going and what you will encounter on your travels during the 14 days.

Day 1 - students arrive in Baltimore, MD; assigned to teams; pizza party at hotel; orientation and get acquainted activities

Day 2 – Today you will  travel to Washington, D.C. where you'll stop at Pentagon City for lunch.  From there, you'll take a short drive to Mount Vernon, for a tour of the home of the first president of the United States; stop at a great restaurant for a buffet dinner before going on to the hotel and a relaxing swim.

Day 3 - have a short tour of the Library of Congress before heading to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing where much of the paper money for the U.S. is printed before lunch at the U.S. Capitol building and a special Congressional tour of this historic location of the U.S. government; finish the day with a group dinner at the famous Magill's Pizza & Buffet before heading to the hotel for an evening of socializing and swimming 

Day 4 – we hope to get tickets early this morning so you can go up into the newly renovated Washington Monument. You’ll visit the U.S. Memorial Holocaust Museum  plus have a change to go through your favorite Smithsonian Museums; in the evening after a group dinner, visit the famous memorials of Washington, DC including the Lincoln Memorial, Viet Nam Memorial, the WWII Memorial and the new Martin Luther King Memorial.

Day 5 – we have requested a tour of the White House but they do not approve them until just a few days prior to our requested date due to security; if you are not able to get into the White House, you will have an opportunity to take photos of this world famous home of the President as well as drop into the White House Visitor’s Center; you’ll have one last opportunity to visit the remaining Smithsonian Museums as well as the National Archives; after lunch, tour the Pentagon, home office of all of the United States armed forces; travel to York, PA; for a group buffet dinner and then head to New Cumberland, PA for the night.

Day 6 – travel to Hershey, PA; tour of Hershey World, a replica of the chocolate factory ; visit Hershey Theme Park; before leaving the area, you'll enjoy a group meal after an exhausting day.
Day 7 – travel to Philadelphia and spend the afternoon visiting the many historical sites, starting at the Constitutional Center. Travel on to Vineland, New Jersey for the evening.

Day 8 – This morning, you will have a chance to do your laundry before traveling to Wildwood, NJ for a day at the beach and the boardwalk sites.

Day 9 - travel to New York City; your visit to the Big Apple will begin with a professional guide who will take you around the city, showing you the highlights and doing some short walking tours; you will spend the evening at the exciting production of Stomp at an off Broadway theater.

Day 10 – visit Liberty Island, home of the famous Statue of Liberty plus go to neighboring Ellis Island where hundreds of thousands of immigrants to the United States landed; stop for a short visit to the 9/11 Memorial on your way to Central Park

Day 11 -  be one of the first to tour the recently renovated internationally known United Nations building; walk across the famous Brooklyn Bridge where you can get great photos of the New York City skyline; if time permits, you can visit Canal Street where there are many street vendors selling all sorts of imaginable knock off items; a visit to New York City would not be complete without a visit to the Empire State Building for a view of the city; spend some free time in the famous Times Square where you have dinner and see some of the famous sights of New York

Day 12 - travel to Boston, MA where you'll have dinner the Hard Rock Cafe after some leisure time at Faneuil Hall Market Place.  Then you'll take in a live performance of Blue Man Group. They have been called “visually stunning,” “wildly inventive,” and “hysterically funny”.  You will be laughing for hours after the show is over.  (photo by Darbe Rotach © BMP)

Day 13 – spend the day using  the Boston Super Trolley to explore city.  You'll be able to get off and on as you travel around this New England city that is full of historic sites and exciting modern things to see and do.   After a group dinner, you'll finish the day with a farewell gathering at the hotel as the tour comes to an end and you pack your bags for home.

Day 14 – you’ll say good-by to your many new friends and fly back to your hosting city from the Boston airport

Breakfast is included in every hotel stay.  You will receive cash back to buy all meals that are not done as a group or included with the hotel stay.
