About
the 2009 South Central
Ambassador
Tours
South
Central Ambassador Tours
takes a unique approach to travel
for international
youth exchange
students – put as much travel and action
into the tour as possible without
spending a great deal of time on a bus
looking out the windows! We also feel
that it is only fair to the students
that travel with us to include all costs
in the tour fees that you will pay –
including ALL MEALS, entry fees to sites
visited, housing and all ground
transportation after you arrive to start
the trip. (You
will need to book and pay for your own air travel based
on the tour you select. But do not do
that until you are confirmed on a trip.
You will be given the specific airports,
dates and times of arrival and departure
in your confirmation.)
This year’s lineup of trips lets you
select from THREE different SCAT tours
that are available during June 2009. By
traveling during the summer after school
has concluded, you will have no concern
about being gone from your host city and
will not miss anything at “home”. These tours
have been operated for over 20 years for inbound
high school age exchange students in
North America.
The Western
States Tour A, also a 14-day
tour has a maximum of 52 students and

staff members. This trip is from

29, 2009 and begins in
Phoenix, Arizona. You'll stop at
Slide Rock State Park for some water fun
on the way to the Grand Canyon National
Park. The beauty of this natural
wonder will amaze you with an
opportunity for hiking before heading

lights. Next on the schedule is
southern California and San Diego, the
home of Sea World. You'll get to
explore the city using an old fashioned
trolley for transportation before moving

Newport Beach and have a day at
California Adventure Park or Disneyland.
As you work you way on toward northern
California, you'll visit the Holocaust
Museum and world famous Hollywood.

with your new found friends in Morro Bay
before heading on to the spectacular
Yosemite National Park. After a

the beautiful sites, you'll travel on to
Oakland, just across the bay from San
Francisco. You'll have a chance to
see all the city has to offer with a bus
tour followed by a cruise of the bay
where you'll see the famous Golden Gate
Bridge from the water. Finally,
you'll have the opportunity to spend a
bit of time in the largest concentration

Reservations are taken on a first
come basis so it is important to
make a decision about going on a tour
and submit your reservation as early as
you can. In the past, some tours have
been completely filled by Christmas.
And every year, we have some students
who are disappointed that they do not
get to go on a tour because they waited
too late to send in their reservation.
We do save a few spaces for students who
arrive in January so that they have a
fair chance at a trip.
The tour fee will cover all of
your ground transportation, housing
(you’ll share a room that has at least 2
full or queen size beds,
with 3 other same gender students), entrance fees to all sites
visited, and all meals and/or a
cash allowance to purchase your
own meals when group meals are not
provided. You will want to bring extra
spending money for your own personal
expenses such as souvenirs or gifts
(although this is not a shopping trip).
-
It is not possible to go on more
than one of our tours as the days
overlap.
-
When reservations are submitted,
they must be complete and have
all required items listed at the
bottom of the reservation form.
Incomplete reservations will be
returned. No space will be
saved for students submitting incomplete reservations.
-
Reservations postmarked prior by
December 31, 2008 may pay just a
$1,000 deposit with the balance due
by February 1, 2009.
Reservations mailed on or after January 1,
2009 require full payment.
-
Payment can only be made by check or
money order and MUST be drawn on a
U.S. bank or financial institution.
We can not accept checks from
non-U. S. banks, payment by credit
and/or debit cards or a direct wire
transfer of funds.
-
Final payment of your tour must be
made by February 1, 2009 to keep
your reservation for students who
made just a partial deposit payment.
-
You can receive a full refund of
all money paid if you cancel your
tour plans and request a refund by February 28, 2009.
Requests for refunds made during
March 2009 will receive 2/3 of all
money paid; 1/2 of all money paid
will be refunded if requested from
April 1 to 15, 2009; requests for
refunds from April 16 to 30, 2009
will receive 1/4
of their paid funds. There
will be no refunds after May 1, 2009
as all tour expenses are prepaid by
then.
-
ABSOLUTE
DEADLINE for reservations is MARCH
31, 2009.
If there are still spaces available
on April 1, reservations may be
accepted but will be charged a $100
surcharge in addition to the regular
published fee.
The tour fee does NOT cover the
expense of your airline ticket to get
you to the city of departure for your
tour and back home at the conclusion of
the trip. You will be instructed to
purchase this ticket at a later date.
-
DO NOT attempt to buy this ticket
until you are given specific dates
and times as well as airports that
you must arrive and depart the tour.
Our tours often fill to
capacity by the end of the year so we suggest you make your
reservation as quickly as possible.
Inbound youth exchange students from any
recognized program are eligible to
participate in the tours as long as they
meet the reservation criteria including
insurance.
You MUST have a "local" (such
as Yahoo, Gmail, MSN, all of which are
free) personal e-mail address to sign up for the tours.
All correspondence is done through
e-mail. Many overseas internet
service providers (ISP) filter out our
many group messages that go out to all
students. We prefer
that you use Yahoo or Gmail as it has a much
greater mailbox memory capacity than
many others. It is your responsibility
to delete old messages from your
personal e-mail box as we might not be
able to get important information to you
if it is filled with old messages. You
must also notify us when you change your
e-mail address or physical address.
Once you are confirmed on a
tour, you should check this tour website
every 2 to 4 weeks to watch for new
information. It will be listed under
the
“New Stuff” link. If your
host family does not have a computer at
home, you can always use one at your
school or public library, usually at no
cost.
We think that you will find all of the
information that you will need on the
tour pages of the South Central
Ambassador Tours website.
However, if you still have some
questions the tour administrator with
your specific questions or concerns.
