Eastern States Tour

 

 

We do our best to establish our travel itinerary early, but there can be circumstances beyond our control that force us to make changes.  Here is our UPDATED proposed itinerary for the 2009 trip but please realize that all of the items listed are not guaranteed as circumstances often change at the last minute.  ALL MEALS are included EVERY DAY.

 

Shown below in blue is the link where you can find background information on the sites that you will visit.  We suggest that you check them out to have an idea of where you will be going and what you will encounter on your travels during the 14 days.

(You should be in good physical health and be capable of walking up to 4 or 5 miles in a day - or more.)

Day 1 - students arrive in Baltimore, MD; assigned to teams; pizza party at hotel; orientation and get acquainted activities; Best Western BWI Airport Hotel

Day 2 – final orientation this morning and then travel to Washington, D.C. area where you'll tour the home of the first president of the United States; stop at a great restaurant for a buffet dinner before going on to the hotel and a swimming party; Quality Inn Mount Vernon

Day 3 -  visit Smithsonian Visitor's Center; visit Smithsonian Museums of your choice at your own pace http://www.si.edu/visit/ ; visit the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Museum http://ushmm.org;group dinner at the famous Magill's Pizza & Buffet; Quality Inn Mount Vernon

Day 4 –  visit the Library of Congress http://www.loc.gov/loc/visit/ a special Congressional tour of the U.S. Capitol building http://www.senate.gov/vtour/;  tour the Pentagon, home office of all of the United States armed forces http://pentagon.afis.osd.mil/; have dinner at the famous Union Station before you make a night visit to the famous memorials of Washington including the Lincoln Memorial, Viet Nam Memorial and the new WWII Memorial; Quality Inn Mount Vernon

Day 5   you'll either take a tour of the White House or visit the White House visitor's center (we can not be confirmed for security reasons for a tour of the White House until about 2 weeks prior to the proposed visit);  more time for the Smithsonian Museums or the National Archives; visit the Washington Monument http://www.nps.gov/wamo/ for a great aerial view of the capital of the U.S.; travel to York, PA; a fun evening of bowling and games after a buffet dinner; Comfort Inn Corporate Gateway

Day 6 – travel to Hershey, PA; tour of Hershey World, a replica of the chocolate factory http://www.hersheypa.com/attractions/in_hershey/chocolate_world.html ; visit Hershey Theme Park http://www.hersheypa.com/attractions/hersheypark/index.html ; before leaving the area, you'll enjoy a Chinese buffet dinner and then travel to Maple Shade, NJ; Quality Inn & Suites

Day 7 spend the day in Philadelphia visiting the many historical sights http://www.pcvb.org/ab_phil/index.asp; travel to Hammonton, NJ; Ramada Inn

Day 8 – travel to Wildwood, NJ for a day at the beach http://www.gwcoc.com/boardwalk.html; Hammonton Ramada Inn

Day 9 - travel to New York City; your visit to the Big Apple will begin by seeing a Broadway play - "Lion King"  http://www.broadway.com/gen/show.aspx?SI=523223&utm_source=HP&utm_medium=ShowPoster&utm_campaign=LionKing# ;   spend some free time in the famous Times Square where you have dinner and see some of the famous sights of New York; Comfort Inn Paramus, NJ

Day 10 a visit to the Museum of Natural History will be very enlightening http://www.amnh.org/ ; a professional guide will take you around the city, showing you the highlights and doing some short walking tours; you'll enjoy dinner tonight at the famous Grand Central Station; a visit to New York City would not be complete without a visit to the Empire State Building http://www.esbnyc.com/tourism/index.cfm?CFID=6284306&CFTOKEN=20037 for a view of the city at night; Comfort Inn Paramus, NJ

Day 11 - tour of the internationally known United Nations building http://www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/index.html ; visit Liberty Island, home of the famous Statue of Liberty http://www.nps.gov/stli/ where you'll get to go into the base of the statue, plus go to neighboring Ellis Island  http://www.ellisisland.org/ where hundreds of thousands of immigrants to the United States landed;  check out the historic South Street Seaport http://www.southstreetseaport.com/html/; Comfort Inn Paramus, NJ

Day 12 - travel to Boston, MA with a stop along the way at Plimoth Plantation http://www.plimoth.org/ ;  enjoy a buffet dinner and a relaxed evening at a 'fun center' next door to the hotel; Ramada Inn

Day 13 – spend the day using  the Beantown Trolley Tour to explore Boston http://www.brushhilltours.com/tours/beantown.html; have dinner at the  Hard Rock Cafe; attend a wild and zany live performance of Blue Man Group http://www.blueman.com/ that will have you laughing for hours after the show is over; finish the day with a farewell gathering at the hotel as the tour comes to an end; Ramada Inn

Day 14 – you’ll say good-by to your many new friends and fly back to your hosting city from the Boston airport

         Breakfast is included in every hotel stay.  You will receive cash back to buy all meals that are not done as a group or included with the hotel stay.
